What to Do in Singapore: 10 Must-Have Experiences

If you’re looking for what to do in Singapore, you’ve come to the right place. This city-state is one of the most vibrant destinations in Southeast Asia, where tradition and modernity blend in a unique way.

Historically a strategic trading post, Singapore remains a global connection hub, with many flights making stopovers at the famous Changi Airport. That’s how, in 2019, during our first trip around the world, we ended up spending a few days in the city. In 2025, during our second journey around the world, we returned after our travels through Thailand and took the opportunity to rediscover everything Singapore has to offer.

    Where to Stay in Singapore

Choosing where to stay in Singapore can make a big difference in your experience. Despite the excellent transportation network, staying closer to the main attractions saves you time. We’ve stayed in Bugis, Geylang, and Orchard, but our top three recommended areas are:

    • Orchard Road – Perfect for shopping lovers who want to be in the heart of the action.
    • Marina Bay – For a more luxurious stay with stunning views.
    • Clarke Quay – Ideal for nightlife enthusiasts who want to be close to major attractions.

If you want more details on the best hotels in each area, check out our post on where to stay in Singapore.

    10 Must-Do Experiences in Singapore

    1. Explore Gardens by the Bay During the Day

The Gardens by the Bay are one of Singapore’s most breathtaking spots, offering a completely different experience depending on the time of day. In the morning and afternoon, it’s worth exploring the lush gardens, visiting the futuristic Flower Dome and Cloud Forest, and walking across the OCBC Skyway for a panoramic view of the iconic Supertree Grove.

    • Location: MARINA BAY
    • Entry: FREE

    2. Watch the Gardens by the Bay Light Show at Night

The iconic Supertree Grove, those giant trees that look like something out of a sci-fi movie, become even more impressive at night. As the sun sets, the lights come on, and the music starts, turning the space into an immersive light and sound show.

We have seen different versions of this magical show, from a Christmas-themed spectacle with artificial snow to a presentation inspired by the Northern Lights. Each experience brings a unique atmosphere, making this moment unmissable for anyone visiting Singapore.

    • Location: MARINA BAY
    • Entry: FREE

    3. Visit the ArtScience Museum

The ArtScience Museum, that futuristic lotus-shaped building by Marina Bay, is known for its immersive and interactive exhibitions. From digital art to futuristic experiences, there is always something innovative to see.

    4. Watch the Spectra Light Show

Spectra is a light and water show at Marina Bay. We have watched it from two different locations:

    • Near Marina Bay Sands – The closest to the action, offering a view of the water effects.
    • From the Merlion side – A broader perspective of the illuminated bay.
    • Location: MARINA BAY
    • Entry: FREE

    5. Shopping on Orchard Road

Orchard Road is Singapore’s shopping paradise. Imagine an entire avenue filled with interconnected malls, many with underground passages and covered walkways. Here, you’ll find everything from luxury brands to more affordable options, along with a great selection of restaurants and cafés.

    • Location: ORCHARD

    6. Indulge in Chocolate Raclette

If you’re a chocolate lover, you must try the chocolate raclette at Awfully Chocolate. It’s a unique experience: you choose the base of your dessert, and melted chocolate is shaved directly onto it from a raclette. It’s completely indulgent and irresistible!

    7. Explore the Cloud Forest and Flower Dome

What to do in Singapore - Cloud Forest and Flower Dome

The Cloud Forest is a stunning indoor tropical rainforest featuring the famous indoor waterfall. The combination of lush greenery and mist effects creates a magical atmosphere. The Flower Dome showcases an incredible variety of plants and flowers from around the world.

    • Location: GARDENS BY THE BAY
    • Entrance: BUY HERE

    8. Discover the Cultural Neighborhood of Little India

Little India is one of the city’s most vibrant neighborhoods, where you’ll find colorful temples, local markets, and authentic food. It’s worth wandering through the streets and trying traditional dishes at the food courts.

    • Location: LITTLE INDIA

    9. Ride the Singapore Flyer

    Singapore Flyer

The Singapore Flyer is one of the world’s largest observation wheels and offers an incredible view of the city. The best time to go is at sunset, especially if the sky is clear.

    10. Visit the Marina Bay Sands SkyPark

The Marina Bay Sands is probably the most iconic building in Singapore. Besides the famous hotel and its infinity pool (exclusive to guests), the SkyPark on the 57th floor offers an incredible panoramic view.

If you don’t want to pay just for the view, there’s a better option: book a table at one of the lounges or restaurants. We chose the Spago Lounge, where we enjoyed a cocktail while admiring the city skyline. However, the snacks were underwhelming, especially for a restaurant under a renowned chef (insert chef’s name).

    • Tip: Book online in advance! When we arrived, the waiting list was already an hour long.
