Best Wineries in Tamar Valley

On the first day, we started exploring some of the many wineries that make Tamar Valley so special. We visited:

  • Velo Wines – We loved that the tasting fee could be deducted from the price of a bottle (one per person). A great incentive to take a little piece of the experience home with us.
  • Tamar Ridge Cellar Door – Alongside an excellent wine selection, you have the option to taste local cheeses on an absolutely divine cheese board. If you’re a cheese lover, you’ll adore this spot!
  • Stoney Rise Wine Company – A modern space with incredible views of the valley. Here, we couldn’t resist a cheese toastie with onion jam – so good we’re still talking about it.

The second day was just as memorable. We started with a coffee and a delicious brownie at The Cabin – a must-visit stop! Then, we continued with more wine tastings:

  • Holm Oak Vineyards – This winery impressed us with its relaxed atmosphere and the friendliness of the staff. We enjoyed a tasting that included sparkling wine and a fortified Muscat wine.
  • Moores Hill Estate – A cozy winery offering excellent wines and cheese boards that elevate the experience. It’s the perfect spot for a relaxing late afternoon.
  • Marion’s Vineyard – The highlight here is the breathtaking view of the Tamar River. The rustic atmosphere, complete with antiques and farming equipment, adds a unique charm to the visit.

Each winery we visited offered something special – whether it was the wine, the views, or the atmosphere.

Where to Eat in Tamar Valley

Our gastronomic experience in Tamar Valley was marked by simplicity and flavor. Between wine tastings and cheese boards, we didn’t dine out for lunch or dinner. However, the brownie and coffee at The Cabin deserve a special mention.

If you’re looking for more complete meals, we were recommended two places that sound promising:

  • Timbre – Known for creative dishes and a cozy atmosphere.
  • Rosevears Tavern – A regional classic, ideal for those seeking a more traditional experience.

Where to Stay in Tamar Valley

Planning where to stay in Tamar Valley makes all the difference in making the most of the region. Here are our suggestions:

  • Budget: Ou+Look BnB – We stayed at this charming B&B and loved it. The apartment is cozy and has incredible views of the Tamar River.
  • Mid-range: Tamar River Apartments – Modern and spacious, these apartments are a perfect choice for those seeking comfort in the heart of the valley.
  • Luxury: Tamar Valley Resort – A 4-star resort featuring a spa, golf course, and panoramic views.

Tamar Valley is much more than a wine region. It’s a perfect blend of flavors, landscapes, and tranquil moments that make you fall in love with its essence. Whether exploring vineyards, savoring local products, or enjoying a sunset view, every experience here left us wanting to return.
