The Best Areas to Stay in Bangkok

Silom: The Balance Between Modernity and Tradition

Silom is the financial heart of Bangkok, but it also has a relaxed side with night markets, amazing restaurants, and rooftop bars with stunning views. Its central location makes it easy to explore other neighborhoods, and for us, it’s one of the best areas to stay in Bangkok.

    Best Hotels in Silom

    • Budget Option: Silom Convent Garden – This was our refuge during a long stay in Bangkok. The apartments, although simple and old, offer a strategic location and a rare tranquility in the city. They also provide a simple breakfast of coffee and toast. Perfect for those looking for an affordable price without sacrificing peace.
    • Mid-range Option: Pullman Bangkok Hotel G – We chose this hotel for a luxury break before continuing our adventure. Modern rooms, easy access to transport, and an unforgettable urban experience. The restaurant and rooftop are highlights.
    • Luxury Option: SO/ Bangkok – A choice of design and sophistication. This hotel features rooms with panoramic views of the city, a world-class spa, and a rooftop that exudes glamour.

    Sukhumvit: Vibrant Nightlife and Convenience

Sukhumvit is the perfect area for those who love modernity, international restaurants, and vibrant nightlife. It is well-connected by the BTS Skytrain and offers everything from street markets to luxury shopping malls, making it one of the best areas to stay in Bangkok.

    Best Hotels in Sukhumvit

    • Budget Option: Bangkok City Link Hotel – Simple and convenient, ideal for those on a budget who want to stay close to everything. The strategic location makes it easy to explore Sukhumvit effortlessly.
    • Mid-range Option: Moxy Bangkok Ratchaprasong – More than just a hotel, it’s an experience. Located near CentralWorld, it offers a young and modern atmosphere. The lively lobby and common spaces make you feel at home, with a fun, irreverent touch we loved. It’s not exactly in Sukhumvit but in the adjacent Siam Square neighborhood.
    • Luxury Option: Marriott Executive Apartments Sukhumvit Park – We were lucky to stay at this hotel at the end of our trip. Spacious apartments, luxurious facilities, and activities like golf and a pool create the perfect environment for a relaxed stay. The view from the rooftop bar is unforgettable.

Khao San Road and Surroundings: The Backpacker Paradise

Where to stay in Bangkok - Khao San Road

Famous among backpackers, Khao San Road is full of energy, with bars, markets, and budget accommodations. It’s one of the best areas to stay in Bangkok and a great base to explore historical attractions like the Grand Palace and Wat Pho.

Best Hotels in Khao San Road

    • Budget Option: Bedspread Hostel – We used this hostel because of its proximity to Khao San Road and the convenience of leaving early for Koh Chang. Simple but effective, it’s perfect for a short stay.
    • Mid-range Option: Villa De Khaosan – A small oasis. It offers comfortable rooms and a rooftop pool with stunning views. Great value for money.
    • Luxury Option: Riva Surya Bangkok – Located on the banks of the Chao Phraya River, this hotel blends luxury with Thai tradition. Elegant rooms and impeccable service make it ideal for those who want to relax in style.
