Where to Stay in Overberg: Top 3 Areas and Hotels

Looking for where to stay in Overberg? You’ve come to the right place. Overberg was one of the biggest surprises of our 2019 South Africa road trip, at the beginning of our second trip around the world. We were fascinated by the beauty of the coast, with picturesque villages and nature reserves where we saw animals just meters away from us. It’s a region still little explored outside the traditional tourist circuit, but one that deserves time and attention – especially if you choose where to stay in Overberg wisely.

De Hoop Nature Reserve

If you’re looking for isolation, incredible landscapes and direct contact with nature, De Hoop is the perfect place to stay in Overberg. We were lucky enough to be invited to stay within the reserve, and it was one of the most memorable experiences of our trip to South Africa. Staying here is like entering another world – a true natural paradise where silence is only interrupted by the sounds of wildlife.

During our stay, we were able to explore the reserve at leisure: we rafted through the lagoons, walked among dunes and even got up close to the famous Cape vultures that inhabit the region. The diversity of fauna and landscape is impressive, and the feeling of total immersion in nature is hard to describe. If you’re looking for something special, this place will stay in your memory.

The main accommodation option within the reserve is De Hoop Collection, which offers a variety of units adapted to different budgets – from simpler, more economical houses to luxury suites with lagoon views. All share comfort, privileged location and integration with the reserve’s natural landscape.

Pringle Bay & Betty’s Bay

These two villages are perfect for those who want to escape the fast pace and enjoy the coast in a more relaxed way. They are quiet places, with good beaches, trails and many accommodations with mountain or sea views. Ideal for peaceful getaways when staying in Overberg.
