Today, we’re sharing our experience in Perth, the capital of Western Australia. If you’re planning a visit to this incredible city and looking for where to stay in Perth, this guide is for you! We’ll explore the three best areas to stay and the hotels that impressed us the most in each one.
We traveled to Perth in early 2025 during our second round-the-world trip and split our stay between two very different areas: the city’s heart, the CBD (Central Business District), and Fremantle, a coastal area with a more relaxed vibe.
If you’re looking for where to stay in Perth, we’ll share our experience in these two neighborhoods and the hotels that caught our attention the most.
Table of Contents
1. Perth CBD
Perth’s Central Business District (CBD) is where everything happens. It’s the perfect place to stay in Perth if you want to be at the center of the action, with easy access to top attractions, fantastic restaurants, and great shopping.

- Luxury: COMO The Treasury – While we didn’t stay here, we heard great things about its award-winning restaurant. The 19th-century heritage building is simply stunning, and the spa has received rave reviews.
- Mid-range: Parmelia Hilton – We didn’t stay here, but it’s a true oasis in the middle of the city. Its central location, with direct access to Brookfield Place, makes it a fantastic option for those who want to be in the heart of Perth.
- Budget: Adina Apartment Hotel Perth – We stayed here and loved it. The apartments are spacious and come fully equipped, including a kitchen—perfect for preparing a quick breakfast before heading out to explore the city. The location is unbeatable, right next to Elizabeth Quay and Hay Street, where we found fantastic shops and restaurants.
2. Northbridge
If you’re looking for nightlife, fantastic restaurants, and a vibrant cultural scene, Northbridge is the place to stay in Perth. We absolutely loved the energy of this neighborhood!

- Luxury: Alex Hotel – This boutique hotel won us over with its rooftop terrace—the perfect spot to unwind after a day of exploring. The free bikes for guests are a great touch, allowing you to discover the city in a unique way.
- Mid-range: DoubleTree by Hilton Perth Northbridge – The panoramic views are breathtaking! Its location is perfect for those who want to be close to Northbridge’s top attractions and best restaurants.
- Budget: Attika Hotel – Located in a quiet spot on the edge of Northbridge, this hotel offers luxury apartments with fully equipped kitchens—an excellent option for longer stays.
3. Fremantle
Fremantle stole our hearts with its relaxed atmosphere, vibrant markets, and nearby beaches. It’s the perfect place to stay in Perth for those looking for a laid-back vibe while still having easy access to the city center.

- Luxury: Esplanade Hotel Fremantle – by Rydges – We stopped by this historic hotel to admire its architecture. The two outdoor pools seem perfect for Perth’s hot summer days. Its central location near the ocean is another major plus.
- Mid-range: Hougoumont Hotel – We didn’t stay here, but we were fascinated by the concept of this boutique hotel built from repurposed shipping containers. Its proximity to Fremantle Markets and the historic prison makes it an interesting choice for history lovers.
- Budget: Dawson Accommodation – This is where we stayed in Fremantle, and we loved every minute! The location is perfect, just steps from the beach and historic center. The apartment was modern, impeccably clean, and the attention to detail was remarkable. We highly recommend it for couples or small families.
