We had always heard that Colombia was a vibrant country full of things to see and do, so we wanted to make sure we had the best experiences in Cartagena. Cartagena de Indias, located on the Caribbean coast of Colombia, is one of the most iconic cities in Latin America. Founded in 1533, it was one of the most important ports during the Spanish colonial period, playing a crucial role in transatlantic trade and defense against pirates. The city is famous for its impressive Walled City, a complex of fortifications built to protect the city, which today is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Additionally, Cartagena is known for its vibrant cultural mix, reflected in its colonial architecture, diverse cuisine, and lively streets full of history.

Restaurante Celele is a prime example of Colombian culinary richness. Founded by two chefs dedicated to reinventing local gastronomy, Celele has become an icon in Cartagena. We chose several dishes from the menu to taste as many flavors as possible and shared them among us. Each dish offered a burst of unique flavors, celebrating reinvented Colombian cuisine. The service and atmosphere are equally exceptional. We considered the price fair given the quality and service provided.

Arepas are a tradition deeply rooted in Colombian culture and can be found all over Cartagena. The most traditional are stuffed with egg and fried again, an irresistible treat. On the other hand, simpler versions, which are grilled, are a common sight at breakfast in accommodations. For a meal that includes this delight, we recommend Quero Arepa, where you can enjoy an authentic Colombian experience.

Staying at the Casa Pestagua was a unique experience. The luxury of the accommodations and the top-notch service made the stay unforgettable.
